For years, I've lived a double life. In the day, I do my job I ride the bus, roll up my sleeves with the hoi polloi. But at night, I live a life of exhilaration, of missed heartbeats and adrenalin. And, if the truth be known, a life of dubious virtue. I won't deny it I've been engaged in violence, even indulged in it. I've maimed and killed adversaries and not merely in self-defence. I'Â ve exhibited disregard for life, limb and property, and savoured every moment. You may not think it, to look at me, but I have commanded armies and conquered worlds. And though in achieving these things I've set morality aside, I have no regrets. For though I've led a double life, at least I can say: I've lived.

Chemical brothers star guitar video that partly inspired me for my new horizons video.

A brilliant video by etienne de crecy called no brain that I saw at the british film institute as part of the bug lectures into the evolution of music video. The superbly executed visuals work harmoniously with the track along with the unexpected ending.

A piece i think if it was presented for the new horizons project would without a shadow of a doubt get 100%. It works on all the levels I believe new horizons wants us to explore from what we get out of life to where we wont it to go. A line that has always stuck with me since I first saw the video is "if i only scrap a living, at least its a living worth scraping" which i think perfectly sums up an attitude to do something that you really love in life that if at all possible make a living from.

Here are two tracks by the the streets that without really thinking about it feel have influenced my video for the new horizons presentation.
Mike Skinner the person who wrote the songs has a way with words that describe the every day living of the every day young man, the mischief they get up to along the life lesson they learn along the way.

A track that was then released after the album from where these two tracks came from some up the streets attitude and is a manifesto there ethos.

Oi Oi Oi
Sometimes I look down; sometimes I look up
Sometimes I look down; sometimes I look up
Oi thats it

Oi Oi
I'm a fake
I don't live the streets

But there's only so many hours in a day and I use 'em to make beats
oi
In the studio
Emerging
Rehearsing
My technique
I live loops
Sleep snares
And breathe beats
Then sit through
Keep the best there
And only leave to eat
Shut the door
Penne nary record the vocal just once more
And now you know why these walls are the only walls i ever saw
Call me the quick "??", my ??

oi
Kind of like a street score
Though, not the genuine article
More facts packed in a soundtrack to the anthem
In a film and I'm the lead
Believe me in a tragedy scene a tear ran down my cheeks
So que the fairytale finale
Listen to the dialogue
But not too deep
Soak up the feeling
But don't quote me please

Incidentally
Don't worry about continuity
The person we hired to do that has been relieved of their duties
Also, in the first scene my jeans are green
But then they change mysteriously to cream
Again bad continuity
But I still mean what I mean
I wear Nike a lot
My hoodie's a tight Schott
But does my life sound as interesting as a fight in a chip shop?
I think not

The hype's not to be believed
I am not the archetypal street geez but i am right on being a beat-junkie
Oi

I gave up the fight for an easy life a long time ago
When the last bird dumped me
Buy me, get one studio free
I use words for effect to illustrate passion
Themes ring fact and specifics are usually fiction
Oi oi
I probably couldn't tell you half of what
"Has it come to this" means,
I was simply setting a scene
Of concrete
Not sky and green trees

I still hold the same hundred feet high dreams
But a lot of things scare me, though
I think I read somewhere recently that fear is a useless feeling because
I can't run to where I'm heading without running from where I was
It's all because

Where I'm from is not the issue
This is my imagination
I don't sing the blues or feel fever
Which by definition aids broken through fever
It floats around places I've never even been to
So don't lean toward the door, up for
Just as the dance floor gets raw
Some of the things this tour makes out
I'd done been or did
Wasn't mean I weren't the one
I'd only seen it
I was always too zoned-out on drum machine shit
To worry about the day to day out in the dosh pit

Oi Oi
Flip the 12"
This is the original mix
Called
Maybe my sarcastic brick twist daunting will be my downfall
Oi
Suddenly I'm defined by my lyrical
So I apologise for being so self-obsessed on this tune
Let,s get back to the story
Soon as
The streets;
The score;
Tell me what you think it is - 'cos I don't know anymore!

A book that has influenced me and helped me in creating my video and its outlook towards london included Ian Sinclair's "Out of the Territory" which is Sinclair's views on a series of walks through London. Often known as Flaneurs or psychogeography Sinclair talks about the everyday and mundanething that often go unnoticed when walk through the streets of London, describing the "hit and run calligraphy" of graffiti writers and the buildings that act as a compass bearing when navigating the city.

Tracks that I have used for the presentation in there entirety

I decided to use the intro from this as I felt i was a good introduction into the rest of the music, summing up that I haven't become someone that is not me and im still trying to find my way.

It wasn't until after I had laid down the mix for the video that realized the true meaningof this song, which is about death, originally written by Johhny Cash. However it seems somewhat relevant considering that the video uses a journey as a metaphor for life. The initial reason for using this track is constant beat and meaningful lyrics "travelling through this world alone"

The idea behind using heartbeaker by deadboy was the consitancy of beat to the movement of the train. It also provided me a space in the video where lyrics did not get in the way of the voice over but providing a rhythm to talk to.

"It's a London thing" is what i decided to end the video which i felt was a perfect track to have as the train journey on as it pulls into London Bridge.

Train Journey
Most printers needed a minimum order of about 500 to 1000 and as my print run wasn't going to be that big it wasn't that necessary. After more research and speaking to printers pronta print could print my magazine digitally with 130gsm glossy double sided full colour inserts with a 250gsm glossy double sided full colour cover for £50 for five. This was the best offer i had so far and was a short turn around so could still bide my time.

I later found mag cloud that could do everything I needed icluding a perfect bind and give my magazine a web precence and the opportunity to have it available to be downloaded onto ipads. As a result I went with this method and am thoroughly pleased with the result and quality of the magazine.
Nixhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05462545419396005467noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2655173290750932749.post-13022081753759875102011-05-02T08:01:00.001-07:002011-05-20T11:25:11.596-07:00Buissness Card DesignAs a small side project away from the design of my music magazine I have been designing my business cards. This has lead me to rethinking the way I brand myself as both an illustrator and a graphic designer.

From all the design the two below were my favorite. I then decide on the Orange and black tying in with my corporate colours.

Nixhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05462545419396005467noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2655173290750932749.post-87538124338390420722011-05-01T13:26:00.001-07:002011-05-21T13:05:37.389-07:00Magazine DevelopmentI have worked through a series of different layout combinations, trying to find a happy medium between text and image. As I have progressed through the design process a few things have come to light. I want the magazine to capture a sense of atmosphere and energy that is experienced through the photographs. From a minimal approach to way the layout design was taking shape I have decided to try and express this sense of atmosphere through full bleed spreads and larger images.

Development for the front cover took a different route and was a bit more straight forward. The things I had to include was the name of the magazine "It's a London Thing" which came from an old skool garage track by Scott Garcia http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N99xeRXItyI, which i felt summed up the nature of the magazine. The main focus on the design was coming up the right image that would attract attention as well as giving an indication on the magazine content.

Alexey Brodovitch's work is nothing but amazing, his sense of space and knowledge of how photographs and text work together on the page shows through in his work. Text often compliments the shapes that feature in the photographs, along with colours and tints that feature as well. These all work in harmony together creating a layout that is both engaging and aesthetically pleasing to look at, not to busy and just the right amount of negative space that frame the image and text. Layering images is a common theme through out his work placing photographs on top of photographs to achieve his desired composition.
Publications include Mixmag, Dazed and Confused and The Face to name just a few. All these publications approach layouts in differing ways. Mixmag uses a lot of photographs that accompany the article, often bright, vibrant club scenes featuring dj's and people that attend each event, aiming itself toward a young crowd.

Dazed and confused on the other hand takes a more considered approach, its emphasis is on the article rather than trying to capture an atmosphere through its sense of fun and energy. The layout focuses on the space around the text and image as much as the features themselves adding a sense of sophistication to the design.

As a result i chose to do a D&AD brief to give me some kind of structure to work towards. The brief i ended up picking was for windows phones new operating system "metro" which is based around the design principles of airport and metro train signage, easily understood and recognized. I looked at as much information as possible that was available on the new operating system and reading through promotional material to try and get a handle on the design ethos around the operating system. From this i gathered it had to be clear, coherent, bold, engaging and typographic. I was limited to only using the "segoe wp" typeface that was the font windows phone seven featured and had to be used in conjunction with the final piece i was to create.

After experimenting with different layouts and ideas, i looked at incorporating the symbols used on the phones operating system, playing around with different combinations of symbols being differing sizes and groups.

I also worked on different layouts an combinations bearing in mind that they had to be clear and coherent with minimal fuss.

Bearing in mind the design principles of the operating system i settled on a clear and coherent layout similar to what you would find in train stations and airports with a list of symbols next to text to clearly identify where things are. The words that I incorporated alongside the symbols I felt helped mirror the understanding of that particular symbol.

As part of a project for uni I had to design and create a website from scratch. The website had to be based on myself as a means of have a presence on the internet. As a result I wanted the website to incorporate my design and illustration work giving a snap shot into the type of work i create.

As a complete novice at building websites i researched various programs on and off line that would help get me started, making the decision to steer away from html coding and programs like dreamweaver. I also wanted to have complete freedom over the program starting with a blank canvas and building the site from there, hence i moved away from template websites such as wordpress, wix and tumblr that have pre built menu's slideshows etc. This ended up leading me to a piece of software called freeway that allows the user to build a site from scratch. This software allowed me to create my own rollover's, menu's, slideshows and layouts to my specification and needed no coding.

The software itself took a bit of getting used to but with a few tutorials allowed me to create the desired effect i was after culminating in website that could easily be navigated and gave me the web presence i was after.

However since the website has gone live i have uncounted a few problems with servers and hosting sites and the website can only be viewed on a few systems which i am currently in the process of rectifying.

Seeing as i have a keen interest in music and regularly head out to clubs i made my disaster about a club called plastic people on curtain road over east london that i check out on a regular basis and is under threat of being closed down. With so many clubs in London under threat of closure i thought this was a disaster that connected to people who know the club and what the music that is played there was trying to do.

In order to create the A5 landscape booklet i had to do some more research about the club, finding out who wanted to close it down, why they wanted to close it down, the feelings of the other club goers and what there opinion was, dj's and producers opinions and why the club meant so much to so many people. I included familiar images from the club such as the red/orange light that sits above the DJ booth, the broken plastic people sign above the entrance that reads pla people, all the familiar sights that people associate with the club so when they see the information booklet it it immediately connects with the vibe of the club.

Along side the information booklet is a blog that we had to create with breaking news about the disaster as well as a 15 second infomercial.

http://saveplasticpeople.blogspot.com/

 Plastic people advert by user9066309

With all this information i was then able to create an informative piece of work that supported the club and what it stood for as well as information on how the general public could help.

The idea must be communicated graphically to allow it to be owned and accessed by others.
For this I documented the typography i come across on my way to to work looking at typefaces and how particular type was used for different signs.

From this the second part of the project was to consider a narrative and think about how people would read the piece. As a result i wanted to work with illustrated images and text and combining the two together. As a keen music lover and regular gig goer i illustrated 4 venues i had been to combining the tickets from the events i had been to.

The tickets all document, place, time, date and band i was going to see on that day acting as a diary communicating to the viewer what i was doing at that point in time.
Based on this finding i wanted to reflect the nature of what he said and the ideologies and sentiment that the quote and Proudhon reflected.

Although the quote was said in the 1840's i wanted to show how the context of the quote related to communist Russia. I looked at fonts that i thought were quote strong and bold, ones that resembled russian fonts from the time, as well as, fractured and stenciled fonts relating to the turbulent and fractured society and the anarchic ideologies people took up in the name of communism.

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 252px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4cobjFGMGvCJS73I6TRCrMG31LzlV4s0MKTLhpp3imkZqRe_j0dAbKdVDCOAmIecVysTljejjcsHk1r5HvZOQRXJ5bbE8IBRIyrXPrKbeytgY53NyNbeAXrPWSWCtz_-nYQDlYNXz-Uk/s320/typo+fonts.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5430241939506050162" />

Out of these fonts then experimented using them on the poster format and seeing how they worked with colour.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 226px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_G2yQ7-j9fo4/S1wn1EoyaLI/AAAAAAAAAR8/LW1kIjaw-8g/s320/blog+pic+2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5430259043433343154" />

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 226px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_G2yQ7-j9fo4/S1wn1piJ9nI/AAAAAAAAASE/3cUBilYKZZU/s320/blog+pic+1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5430259053337638514" />

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 226px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_G2yQ7-j9fo4/S1wvFe2DcpI/AAAAAAAAASk/qSSDMoJ0SyQ/s320/blog+pic+3.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5430267021927608978" />

I chose the red and black to represent the colours of the communist party so it was in keeping with the quote and the font so the the communist movement is conveyed on each level.

This is my final design

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 226px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_G2yQ7-j9fo4/S1ws9WeIlMI/AAAAAAAAASU/N90aPOUoThg/s320/blog+pic+4.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5430264683217589442" />

As part of the project i also designed a poster advertising the quotes exhibition. This way the recipe could be printed on to a magnet and stuck to a magnetic surface in the kitchen, which could be the work top, fridge, cupboards a magnetic paint could even be applied to a surface to attach the recipe.

With this in mind and the products available i was restricted to working on an a4 format.

<img style="display:block; All the cd's in the collection had a very distinctive highly recognizable illustration on each front cover that all kept a similar style.
Another example i quite liked was from the Guardian news paper that had a coupon book for money off the guardian for different days. To distinguish between each different day they kept the same font but had a box of different colors for each different day surrounding the font.

These are a few logo designs i started working on

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 226px; height: 320px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_G2yQ7-j9fo4/Subb7OsfjQI/AAAAAAAAARU/MaKiNivfz2w/s320/logo%27s+rgb.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5397243014053596418" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 302px; height: 320px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_G2yQ7-j9fo4/Subb6xWLCYI/AAAAAAAAARM/FdpS9zsfD4Q/s320/circus+of+sound+logo+1+flattened.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5397243006175349122" />

I also started designing the cd covers. I wanted to keep the design modern and contemporary, in keeping with the circus of sound ideal that wanted to company to appeal to a younger audience.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 226px; height: 320px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_G2yQ7-j9fo4/SubcbjILf2I/AAAAAAAAARs/bEbWJFzsATE/s320/+rgb+.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5397243569294245730" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 226px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSST97I_Xmeex7vvaPdZ40Ckdv1IM6JM0jTkTcOX54cc_0vDtw0n67YVF3JYXY4WlSNB_O8lLSbLJA__0F2CUOhtpPlpz-m33KB01ILWmHMa4kEjORD84rHRwsbfPMNBZoQPzAhxJ-tBk/s320/Untitled-13+rgb.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5397243565977092002" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 226px; height: 320px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_G2yQ7-j9fo4/SubcbE0AarI/AAAAAAAAARc/ocDaWYMqLks/s320/Untitled-12rgb.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5397243561156569778" />

These are a few of the final designs i decided to use.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 256px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnoCJ4_H5VgDuf8uZQ0O4aHfBg8TZX9Q6Mjb9BQw6BKr5ML6MQDejXiPsy89L6Dfr8nkPbewriiAo1OFYKrj5pNXp6532JIP3Vi19YIyHcixajhvzyK19BqcGLIu-aG8TrlO2zAnmTAEU/s320/circus+of+sound+logo+flattened.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5397240982913437746" />

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 226px; height: 320px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_G2yQ7-j9fo4/SubaucdKYtI/AAAAAAAAARE/XMI_rXXhBS4/s320/cd+covers+5+rgb.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5397241694897464018" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 226px; height: 320px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_G2yQ7-j9fo4/SubauE9kJmI/AAAAAAAAAQ8/JUybOVOrXI0/s320/cd+covers+1+rgb.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5397241688590919266" />Nixhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05462545419396005467noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2655173290750932749.post-76304351887520864522009-05-19T03:28:00.000-07:002009-05-19T03:54:58.268-07:00Jacob the jewelerFrom the crystal ball of doom i picked out the jacob the jeweler who designs and makes expensive watches for a lot of rappers in America. In response to this i decided to take my own spin on this character and bling up a wall clock that can be worn round your neck. I wanted to show just how ridiculous i thought these clocks were. I set up a fake award ceremony background for mtv and got people to stand in front of the wall and pose with the clock.

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_G2yQ7-j9fo4/ShKM92sUv8I/AAAAAAAAAOs/FNnk3XKTnxM/s320/P1050040.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5337483502668791746" /><img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_G2yQ7-j9fo4/ShKNVbkAdFI/AAAAAAAAAO0/52V1zzUsiNE/s320/P1050041.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5337483907703010386" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_G2yQ7-j9fo4/ShKNs7g9L2I/AAAAAAAAAO8/DiO1_kKOJ_0/s320/P1050042.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5337484311417139042" /><img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0GhjifzNT2zuPab-ZQBSi430toaDPZ5KA8_397K-PHIkLB21z6ctdzW6ZwiSO4RFgQVewnAqKsUTgsJFStVTjXIw1T5bb4HPT7ujy17zVDmWQOl4zorzvHMj1SSbWqQunsUfNY4X0P_k/s320/P1050043.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5337484598758824482" /><img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_G2yQ7-j9fo4/ShKOfpS5UOI/AAAAAAAAAPM/4jhNntk9vFs/s320/P1050044.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5337485182699655394" /><img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_G2yQ7-j9fo4/ShKOztGamnI/AAAAAAAAAPU/U7Igtrs7noM/s320/P1050045.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5337485527318436466" /><img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_G2yQ7-j9fo4/ShKPQlTCqSI/AAAAAAAAAPc/P8SRD_sW15s/s320/P1050050.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5337486023440116002" /><img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_G2yQ7-j9fo4/ShKPiTqDzaI/AAAAAAAAAPk/tOJGy3h5Yfo/s320/P1050051.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5337486327942466978" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 218px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWJe7bBQRnavc85awLID_VHtlMkmB73pk8JPSOtxZss6D65iPhngdQItZyZRJRBqFOGCUVfWQTB7rPs__UyJ0Ef0uOS8h3WvPg1qSeRmktqS74inpi42ATkxNbJ8nHyaZDGxicMliVBpA/s320/P1050052.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5337486606664031730" />Nixhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05462545419396005467noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2655173290750932749.post-88058768540820792502009-05-18T07:05:00.000-07:002009-05-18T07:59:33.409-07:00E RushFrom the research i done i decided to look at an energy cereal that came from an came from me thinking of a cereal for clubers. After doing a few designs and coming up with various names i settled with energy rush.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_G2yQ7-j9fo4/ShFsEJhXPnI/AAAAAAAAANE/TmPU2ixe4w0/s320/energy+rush.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5337165851941879410" />

From this i then started working on the design of the packaging, thinking about color schemes that would represent the nature of the cereal as well as photographing cereal to go on the front of the box and coming up with the line "go mental on energy"

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 204px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxs2Yv51tKUvaYuT86B2ZMc_W1-kMkO-uqeCwmM_lLyGIr502WtQdQVFiEAVWQ7dJOje3QXY3GrWNblK7XrW5P-xxp5iVVV1slNlyleL-jHG-4Z1nV5GQ9eOTgtCBqqNuNUOPTio1bw0U/s320/energy+rush+final+mock+up+size.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5337166501282940146" />

After presenting this to the group and the feed back i got i felt the idea was a little tame so i went back to were the idea originally came from and decided to design a cereal thats based around ecstasy for clubbers but as a cereal. I wanted the to still keep a cereal feel for the packaging as well as aiming it at the clubbing market.
I adapted the logo i had already designed for energy rush and came up with "E Rush" instead, and came up with a new for the cereal "tuning you into the hi-hat treble and bass".
I also started work on the back and sides of the cereal using similar things you find on regular cereal boxes such as ingredients a brief description of the cereal etc but on one side i decided to go for what they have on club websites with photographs that have been taken inside the club of various people having a good time.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 139px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_G2yQ7-j9fo4/ShFyZVjZbnI/AAAAAAAAAN8/gr0_8oIGw9Y/s320/e+rush+logo.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5337172813018656370" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 226px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_G2yQ7-j9fo4/ShFyZD-H3VI/AAAAAAAAAN0/GfjOMFcWJP8/s320/net+for+cereal.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5337172808298913106" />

From the feed back i then got from that design i decided i had to represent raving culture a bit more and looked into neon colors that often associated with raving so i decided to go for a neon green as well as developing the logo a bit more and doubling it up to add a bit more impact.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 214px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWJitZq8A3heQ-p4e2Smlw0uSBoNiSCeRsYvTkd6FNZYffS5yYj49_rH4PKriRC7FZkaBRdWRfCe4IAO6IUKurlwy9GpAZOf-gkZjzHt5JZrdlSQUZzdkU9cSwAZf1gv3gEVgGYryq8AE/s320/e+rush+green+front.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5337174765598090578" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 226px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_G2yQ7-j9fo4/ShF0Kh3qHKI/AAAAAAAAAOE/aKg96ntMbTk/s320/e+rush+net+green+copy.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5337174757650078882" />

Although i felt this was a development on the last design i still felt there was something lacking, The box seemed to plain and need more of an emphasis on making this look like a clubbing cereal. So from things that i associated with clubbing the one thing that stuck out was lazers, as well as the phrase in rave culture reach for the lazers this seemed the perfect way to go so after getting an image of lazers shooting out in a club i settled on this final idea.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 214px; height: 320px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_G2yQ7-j9fo4/ShF1XBYVUuI/AAAAAAAAAOc/mGrxSJ3ZxqQ/s320/e+rush+lazers+front.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5337176071778685666" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 226px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_G2yQ7-j9fo4/ShF1W9ot_FI/AAAAAAAAAOU/YASoUoJbjao/s320/e+rush+net+lazers.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5337176070773668946" />

Now that the cereal packing had been completed i then went about working on the advert, after discussing ideas with people the basic idea behind the cereal was the transformation the cereal takes you through starting off with a man in a suit representing the everyday working man and wanting an enhancement to his night it would then take you to the night or day ahead with everyone dancing bake to the same person in club attire dancing and giving the viewer the shot of the cereal. Once all the filming had been done and various clips taken from a rave scene i then added a drum and bass track and worked on the voice over for it. This is how the final advert turned out.

Nixhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05462545419396005467noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2655173290750932749.post-34007830235626829112009-05-10T03:54:00.000-07:002009-05-10T08:43:20.997-07:00DiscourseEight
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 158px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_G2yQ7-j9fo4/SgazYLTs0QI/AAAAAAAAAKM/VmtxRu90gUc/s320/eight-logo.gif" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5334148036600582402" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 158px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIpDQtdIqyDNyApvgg8ow4e6jBkZzCOEnpNVmeokIDfNAR-4QmHwzwpJ401zZvZW1SJtIAkySCGt3yNaLZBZaRx_ujFP8nuT-dpOcFHPrpbAE7hCaKKkTPwDlkIFUtXEIQtG8GZIPdohs/s320/eight-logo-type.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5334148040687183650" />

I love the invention behind this logo for the company “eight” that has been designed by stylo design. The concept behind the design of the logo is so well thought out and so simple which is what in my opinion makes it work so well.
The logo perfectly communicates to the viewer the name of the company as well as making it stand out and work with the typeface, and using the text to become the image. It’s not until you look twice that you appreciate the clever imaginative way the name has been constructed from the number 8. It is the fact that the 8 has been used for every letter that gives the logo its uniform and purpose. However I can’t really see how the whole typeface would work with other words as the reason the logo works as it does is that it expresses the name and typeface together. I also think it’s quite interesting to see the thinking behind the idea and how the logo has come together. It shows the boundaries that are pushed in the design thinking and how well, a well thought out idea can be executed.

Environment London
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 316px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_G2yQ7-j9fo4/Sgb1U-fA1WI/AAAAAAAAAMk/nY0LrWkVvJY/s320/the+foundry.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5334220549386196322" />
I think I am quite lucky to have London as the environment I live in, especially as I am studying graphic design. Besides the obvious advantages of big major galleries and a rich diverse culture throughout London, for me one of the biggest things I find influencing me is it freedom to express throughout the streets of practically everywhere you go. Street art is scrawled across the walls providing a social commentary on current events which feeds my visual library of images, methods and ideas. I also find myself walking around and coming across little exhibitions that seem to have popped up over night, showcasing unsung artists and illustrators. It is this unknown environment that I find myself documenting and fuelling my imagination away from the mass crowds and tourists. But wherever you go London has an atmosphere and a buzz and to just look around the streets there is always to gain inspiration from and admire, from the neon signs that illuminate your journey to the towering architecture that never seems to disappear from your sight. It is all the reasons and more that I think makes London a brilliant environment to be apart of.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_G2yQ7-j9fo4/Sgb1g3fJagI/AAAAAAAAAMs/HSWWiC18ZTg/s320/vandalism.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5334220753666140674" />
Fluxus

Fluxus is an art movement I find quite interesting although is not something that I greatly agree with or like. From what I have found out the fluxus art movement wanted to blur the boundaries between art and life and make art and the artist a relevant and productive member of society. This is all very well but what I don’t agree on is that all art has to have a purpose. George Maciunas one of the founding artists in the fluxus movement came up with a series of boxes that had been complied with his and other artists in the movements work containing various items of use such as playing cards, matches, and a pear. A lot of these works were unsigned and made cheaply with the intention of wider distribution. But with work like this I don’t see them being an artist but someone who has closer ties with a shop keeper that sells on items of need. In my opinion art can have a purpose but what tends to make art what it is, is its aesthetic appeal which makes you want to own that particular item in question.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjrt5xbOaWQh95uVMY10cmO_Q0S8LG_ox4j9v7G51nWFicCQZRWNxD5UHkf1C2D1QzX-eG_GMfbxj9ICNJ_yYMFPEkvLtkaxLv8x_tdaqZT1npTqgEhmzDL5Tltr39paw7QWlJ7ZT91bpA/s320/fluxus.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5334221114191809362" />

http://www.news.harvard.edu/gazette/2007/03.08/16-fluxus.html

Semiotics
Semiotics is the use of signs and signifiers in many different creative fields from visual arts and film to literature and music all these use the device of semiotics to portray something the viewer.
The example shown is for a beer called Carling with the phrase for the campaign “belong” and “knowing who your mates are”. The advert is aimed at young males who go out with there mates that are refused entry from somewhere because of the type of shoes you have on. Most young males can identify with this through the signs and signifiers that are evident in the advert of wearing trainers and a gathering of mates trying to get in somewhere that looks really good. The other signifier as well as the imagery is the phrase “know who your mates are” it represents camaraderie between friends identifying with the three musketeers analogy. The image of them in silhouette at the end is also identifiable with moving on into the distance and standing strong together. Through the use of semiotics in this advert the viewer relates to a familiar scenario and in doing so makes them feel familiar to the drink and the idea of belonging.

Alan Fletcher

Alan Fletcher described by the daily telegraph as "the most highly regarded graphic designer of his generation, and probably one of the most prolific" he was at the for front of postwar graphic design in Britain and from looking at his work it is not hard to see why. Although passing away in 2006 his legacy of design carries on through his company pentagram which are still doing intuitive and original deign with the likes of such organizations as MOMA.
The strength of Fletchers work is still around to see through logo’s such as the V&A, which is a simple yet very effective piece of design that communicates and illustrates the nature of the brand to the viewer.
Something I find interesting about Alan Fletcher is the way he looks at things, and the way he describes seeing as one of the most important sense’s and how people think in images, and how words are the most identifiable symbols. It is through his book the art of looking sideways that plays on the perception of images, i.e. is a zebra a black animal with white stripes, or a white animal with black stripes. He engages the viewer which is why I think his design is so successful.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 220px; height: 282px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_G2yQ7-j9fo4/SgbAQpw2Z8I/AAAAAAAAALs/7Ik_qXSWnP4/s320/alan+fletcher+book.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5334162200988116930" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 230px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_G2yQ7-j9fo4/SgbAQeWWxdI/AAAAAAAAALk/50FItZr-xDk/s320/v%26a.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5334162197924201938" />

Alex trochut

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjETxGUDmh2ld7U-vVf0JTLGe9rUtL-Cx8o6TMOYbMVocGJeaMO1GsxM3EgKpGIHQUGuAnTbhHLhBHV794djid4UvKRGbJ0GkotA3ncNg1v8gl1PdbDJ1BWBde6nir-YGpOm0i50hFpFvE/s320/+2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5334163934853453458" />

Trochut’s work mainly focuses on typography being the main part of his design. A lot of the work he has done revolves around him designing his own typography for the particular client he is working for. His designs are often in black and white, but with the typography used either gives them a bold strong feel or an elegant flowing aesthetic to the design. The strength of his designs is also evident through the company’s he has worked for such as, Nike, Cadbury’s, and the front cover of the rolling stones album. His design in typography becomes the image which I think is one of the main reasons why work is is so strong, his work is visually dynamic and engages his audience. His work also has a balance to it. There is no one over powering part of his designs just everything working together as one.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 262px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_G2yQ7-j9fo4/SgbCAMvdIkI/AAAAAAAAAL8/bcXPEfFPQ5c/s320/alex+trochut.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5334164117342986818" />

Takashi Murakami
<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_G2yQ7-j9fo4/SgbEk4RVxiI/AAAAAAAAAMc/W8jLzwdn2ek/s320/takashi_murakami.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5334166946526381602" />
<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 316px; height: 320px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_G2yQ7-j9fo4/SgbEkgDwSEI/AAAAAAAAAMU/Sn3hel-seZY/s320/takashi+murakami+lv.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5334166940026947650" />
Murakami is one of the leading artists coming out of Japan whose work sells for a fortune. He has looked at anima and manga for inspiration and turned this theme into works of art, he dubs this style super flat referring to way his work flattens tradition and brings everything together. What makes Murakami so successful is turning his own art into consumer products, the opposite of warhole who took consumer products and turned them into art. It is this that makes him so successful, as everyone can own a piece of Murakami’s work through the toys that have come out of his paintings. It is the forward thinking into the mainstream that has seen him working with designers such as Louis Vuitton. His design for a Louis Vuitton bag is world renown and is immediately identifiable.
However from looking at his work I am not a great fan and find his work a bit too busy for my liking the colors are very brash and in your face and quite gimmicky. However I think this is a reflection of the consumer world we live in, and the corporate side that is now in art.

Secret Wars

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 206px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_G2yQ7-j9fo4/Sga-sRsnJ2I/AAAAAAAAALc/XR-Vkx2Ya34/s320/secret+wars.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5334160476540970850" />
Secret wars is an underground art battle where 2 artists go up against each other on 2 white blank walls with only back markers as a way of expressing themselves the battle lasts 90 minutes and is a combination of illustration and graffiti styles. Since starting with the first series in 2006, secret wars is coming ever closer of coming out of the underground in out in the world, with battles being organized in such city’s as London, New York, Malmo and Copenhagen with more city’s being added each year. What makes this concept so interesting is seeing the art unfold in front of you, without the aid of a sketch or a pencil to mark out the piece on the wall all the work is done freestyle and in front of an audience. From following secret wars since it has started it is something I have gained influence from and put me in the direction of other artists. It shows what can be achieved in 90 minutes on such a large area and how the execution of a good idea is key.

Eine
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_G2yQ7-j9fo4/Sga73gr6PwI/AAAAAAAAALU/js2VJ3ebNA0/s320/P1040858.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5334157371008237314" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEETgP7HTRWG1lcnY8dg-deeoeJKQ6-nrqTGlgctcQfioPqc1jANES9zTmQdWo_mxNhILDOEOW98bt17qCpcizR0onWHSbKjttSUcIv6kpf7sW1Rrq208bHwfcCZV_WYxu13H8_5xJ5EI/s320/P1040855.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5334157364410088434" />
Eine is a street artist who paints large scale letters and phrases throughout London. I went to his private view over in Shackwell street where he had an exhibition of his full color shutter fronts that he had screen printed consisting of 77 colors. All these letters are around the east end on various shop fronts that he has put up over the past few years. It wasn’t till I got there that I realized the exhibition was part of a record breaking attempt where each piece of work took up to 6 weeks to complete, and throughout the 150 prints resulting in the printer being pulled a massive 12,000. Apart from the work which I am a big fan of, especially when walking round the east end and being confronted by a huge colorful “J” on a shop front, was where the exhibition took place. A garage had been transformed into a temporary exhibition space with work being hung from wall to ceiling in sets of three going down. There were pot paints and tools stacked in corners and the smell of solvents still lingering in the air which I found adding to the atmosphere of the event.

Post modernism

Post modernist architecture is something that I find interesting because it is something that more or less impacts me on a daily basis. Weather I’m on my way to university or heading down to the pub I am bound to see a bit of post modernist architecture jetting up into the sky line. Such buildings as the gurken are visually striking and represent a modern way of thinking reflecting the postmodern culture we live in today. Postmodern buildings through out London are often recognized straight away just from there shape alone. I think this liking to post modern buildings also has influences through the work I like to produce with clean cut lines and a fresh polished finish. Buildings done away with the modernist idea of everything being designed around function and have moved more towards the idea of an ornament and something that is a lot more aesthetically pleasing to the eye. An interesting comparison is the national theatre which is modernist compared to with the sage music centre in Gateshead being post modernist both of them couldn’t be further removed from each other in the way they look.
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 211px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_G2yQ7-j9fo4/Sga6ywhMOdI/AAAAAAAAALE/A3KwRkz4j7Y/s320/sage.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5334156189847271890" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_G2yQ7-j9fo4/Sga6yiZRtMI/AAAAAAAAAK8/1QK6qKcD1vU/s320/national+theatre.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5334156186055980226" />

Ralph Steadman

Ralph Steadman is an illustrator that I have been fond of from an early age growing up with various books by him in my house. I think his style is very unique and is full of energy his black ink splatters being his trade mark add a unique element to his style often exploding from the page. His scratchy style map out figures and there gestures with a strange abstract feel that add to the confusion in some of his illustrations. His work often reflects social issues and plays on the political stories that are present at the time they were made, his drawings also depict an ugly side to things with bulbous heads and big eyes. There is often a degree of violence in his work or a sense that something violent is about to happen, which I feel adds to the sense of atmosphere in his work. As well as his unique illustrations I also like a set of work he done with polaroid’s that feature in his book paranoids. In this set of work he used polaroid’s of famous people and heated them up and dragged the image to distort the images often creating warped and surreal images.

Light Writing

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 212px; height: 320px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_G2yQ7-j9fo4/Sga5UFL1I-I/AAAAAAAAAK0/amQ0unmjaWc/s320/light+drawing+2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5334154563307250658" /><img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 214px; height: 320px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_G2yQ7-j9fo4/Sga5Tzo3k5I/AAAAAAAAAKs/fSBPECFbfGE/s320/light+drawing.png" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5334154558597206930" />
Light writing is something that I have looked into in parts of my work this year and is something that I enjoy. Light writing has only really developed over the past few years with digital cameras being more available to the masses as well as an inexpensive way of practicing without doing long exposures on a standard slr camera and using lots of film. With the use of such websites as flick r and you tube light drawing is readily available for the world to see and is an up coming form of urban art where no vandalism takes place. Light drawing is a wonderful use of light and technology coming together and is only ever stored through the medium it has been recorded on and can never been seen in its entirety where the drawing has taken place. Through the use of light drawing animations can take place, writing can be scrawled across walls and all in a second with evidence that it ever happened. Through these pictures and films the darkest streets turn into neon signs and images and torches and led lights are flashed through the air.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 273px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_G2yQ7-j9fo4/Sgb1sZYTY-I/AAAAAAAAAM0/kzfeO_lRF6Y/s320/light+drawing+alphabet.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5334220951742800866" />Nixhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05462545419396005467noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2655173290750932749.post-87288869218462452742009-04-08T13:40:00.000-07:002009-04-08T14:23:28.472-07:00Snap! Crackle! Pop!I was a Little overwhelmed when i got the brief to create and design a new brand of cereal as i didn't really know where to start.

However i have checked out various cereal packaging on the internet and viewing adverts on you tube as well as going to the museum of brands, packaging and advertising to get ideas rolling.

I think the biggest problem with this project i have found is to come up with a concept behind the cereal. After throwing a few ideas around and the likely hood of pulling them off one that stuck out to me was inventing a cereal for clubbers weather it be to give them energy before hand or for chilling out afterwards.

Although i found this to be a bit to comical and not the strongest so i have re thought the idea and have decided to go for an energy cereal not something that is widely available in the cereal market but i am going to use such brands as red bull, v, lucozade etc, as starting points and ideas on branding, colours, adverts and so fourth.

Nixhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05462545419396005467noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2655173290750932749.post-15535675727172478502009-04-08T13:10:00.000-07:002009-04-08T13:39:02.165-07:00Postcard ProjectAfter getting the brief to re-invent a holiday postcard the first thing that jumped to my mind was showing the opposite of what see on a postcard. I first played with mock ups of rubbish areas such as skips and rubbish dumps with the phrase "wish you was here" in a font that was similar to what you would find on a traditional postcard.

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 227px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_G2yQ7-j9fo4/Sd0GFuNA1HI/AAAAAAAAAJM/ybVtdYuncYc/s320/wish+you+were+here+rubbish+copy.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5322417029993518194" />

My other idea was looking at the drug issue and using images of drug paraphernalia and using phrases with them such as "would rather be jacking up" and "thought I would drop you a line".

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 227px; height: 320px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_G2yQ7-j9fo4/Sd0Hey4he8I/AAAAAAAAAJU/qaUv3-Bg318/s320/thought+i+would+drop+you+a+line.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5322418560258112450" />

My other idea was having just text on the front of the card and getting rid of an image all together which was the idea i decided to run with.
On the front of the card i put descriptions down of various scenes of different scenes allowing the viewer to make the image in there head as they read the card this way the card would be unique to every reader as everyone who read the description would have a different interpretation of the description to come up with their image.

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 229px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_G2yQ7-j9fo4/Sd0I7eohqzI/AAAAAAAAAJc/OOsgYyRFj7o/s320/waterfall+copy.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5322420152550140722" />

With most of the descriptions all ready done the next thing i had to think about as the typography as i felt there was no need for the flowing font as it had similarities to something of a holiday postcard so i had to try and find an unemotive typography that was left open to interpretation.

These are my final set of 6

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 226px; height: 320px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_G2yQ7-j9fo4/Sd0KwztVzTI/AAAAAAAAAJ0/k-6-C_kgaug/s320/postcards+a4+3.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5322422168252173618" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 226px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfDlYIJBQM9hZS0GaM5Vm6WiWDfzJCxUjzuz43J2miMZNShHT_8h7ruSWujl2YUedn0qRWJtQqQvkQhXCptQ0ujcV7-zhrPF1_msScyD9egaOM6573q3Ls4ywW-sSJvMqgyebIRe8bAKg/s320/postcards+a4+2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5322422166200139730" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 226px; height: 320px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_G2yQ7-j9fo4/Sd0KwdhUCyI/AAAAAAAAAJk/Rz7Bz0cQ-0E/s320/postcards+a4.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5322422162296146722" />Nixhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05462545419396005467noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2655173290750932749.post-6270653744645427712009-03-17T14:35:00.000-07:002009-03-17T15:47:41.363-07:00Forever in Electric Dreams<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 314px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_G2yQ7-j9fo4/ScAZgHBoOUI/AAAAAAAAAH0/Coin3iEcTwM/s400/map+marked+out.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5314275599729572162" />

Flaneur : "stroller", "Lounger", "saunterer", "loafer", "to stroll", "a person who walks the city in order to experience it".

This entry offers an insight into a sunny Monday afternoon getting off the train at Liverpool street station and going on my surrealist walk.
